Bike and Kite Day - Sunday 28 October 2018

Posted on 07 Nov 2018

We had a the most magnificent afternoon for Bike and Kite Day. The wind meant that we were able to launch some kites quite high in the air and the face painting and tattoos looked amazing. The bike track was well used as was the jumping castle.  We only had a couple of minor stacks on the bikes and everyone rode safely.  It was great to see the children enjoying themselves with the magician, the orienteering and the Maypole dancing right at the end of the day.  I would especially like to thank our volunteer musicians for providing some entertainment and Geoff for helping with the bike checks.  Geoff has done this so capably for the last four years and will hand over the reigns to someone else in 2019. Thanks Geoff for the last four years.  A big thank you to our Community Coordinator, Jason for organising the day and to the team who helped with set up, pack up and who came along to support the event.

Good Vibes Sports Day

Posted on 25 Sep 2018

What a fantastic day, the weather was perfect, and the children participated in the rotations with smiles on their faces. There were flying chickens, water relays, ball games, loose parts just to name a few.

The day would not have run so smoothly without the help of volunteers. A big thank you to the University of Canberra Little Athletics coaches for your time and fun activities you brought to share with us. Another big thank you must go to the parents and carers who came to help and joined in with the groups, it was wonderful to share this experience with our families too. It was such a fun day had by all that we will add it to our calendar again for next year.

Early Childhood Education for three-year-old children

Posted on 07 Aug 2018

Substantial evidence shows that equitable access to quality early childhood education creates a greater likelihood that all young children will develop and grow with an equal chance at better school achievement and improved social, emotional and health outcomes.

The ACT Government has started a conversation with parents, the early childhood sector, schools and the wider community about developing an Early Childhood Strategy to ensure every child in the ACT gets the best start in life.

As a key part of this strategy, the Minister for Education and Early Childhood Development has announced that the government would like to introduce free, universal quality early childhood education for three-year-old children in the ACT. This would be a staged approach commencing in 2020, initially focusing on children who would benefit the most.
